About
I am a serial entrepreneur in healthcare. In fifteen years I have cofounded three companies, bought two and sold three, to buyers in Italy and in the United Kingdom.
I cofounded Unit Care in 2011 and Rede Relief, which opened in 2018, and sold both to Grupo SOL, an Italian conglomerate listed on the Borsa Italiana (SOL.MI) and present in 32 countries, in 2019 and in 2022. I bought Bliss White in 2016, a dental service for high end insurers, and sold it in 2019 to the British group Bupa, which serves 68 million customers and maintains a health network in 190 countries, and which was already one of the insurers we served. In 2024 I bought Pronep Life Care together with Grupo SOL, and in May 2026 I cofounded Sereva.
Today I am Chief Strategy Officer at Pronep and at Grupo Global Care. Pronep is a national reference in high complexity home care, accredited by the Joint Commission for more than 18 years.
What keeps me in this sector is a technical problem: patient data breaks in the handoff between hospital, transitional care and home. Interoperability was the bottleneck of the past decade; today it is what separates the AI that delivers results in healthcare from the AI that only promises them.
This is not a recent interest. I was President of the Brazil Chapter of the Continua Health Alliance between 2013 and 2016, whose interoperability guidelines for health devices became the international standard ITU-T H.810. I was the lead researcher of the telehealth group at UFRGS. I received awards at the Connected World Forum (Dubai, 2012) and from ISfTeH (Japan, 2013), and appeared twice on the Healthcare Management list of the 100 most influential people in healthcare.
And today I build. Within the group, I developed agents that read corporate mailboxes and turn the day's conversation into dated, auditable facts, and contract bases searchable by semantic search in which every answer cites the source document. At Sereva, I run an AI agent in direct contact with the patient, with a state machine in the database deciding what the model is allowed to do at each turn.
The pattern is the same in all of them: the model proposes, the code executes, and no answer asserts an effect the database does not confirm. Data that does not circulate does not become care, and data without provenance does not become anything.
On the other side of the table, since 2020 I have been a member of the investment committee of Bossa Invest / Pool Health Tech, and I served on the advisory boards of Medictalks, of IASIS Health, integrated with the RNDS, and of diversidade.io.
Physician trained at the Universidade de Passo Fundo (CRM-SP 136.707), with a specialization in Hospital Administration and Health Systems from FGV-EAESP and from the Hospital das Clínicas of USP, and executive education at Harvard Business School.
Experience
A selection of twelve positions, in reverse chronological order by start date. It is not a complete list.
Sereva
Cofounder · May 2026 to present
I cofounded Sereva, a weight loss journey platform with continuous medical follow up.
The operation runs on an AI agent in direct contact with the patient, with clinical triage, a defined protocol and escalation to the medical team.
It is where I test in production what I have argued in theory for a decade: care only works when data circulates.
Pronep Life Care
Chief Strategy Officer · April 2024 to present
In 2024 I bought Pronep together with Grupo SOL, and since then I have led the company's strategy.
The work is advanced home hospitalization and post acute transitional care, with patients on mechanical ventilation, parenteral nutrition and mobile ICU support. The Joint Commission accreditation, held for more than 18 years, is the standard we inherited and have to sustain.
Here I developed the contract bases searchable by semantic search that the operation uses, in which every answer cites the source document.
Grupo Global Care
Chief Strategy Officer · December 2023 to present
I lead the strategy of Grupo Global Care, which operates through Global Care, through DN Global, in the Northeast of Brazil, and through Rede Relief, under the shareholding control of Grupo SOL and of the holding company PPAR.
I work on the integrated transitional care model: connecting the hospital to the home through home hospitalization, post acute rehabilitation and transitional hospitals.
In 2022 I led the integration of Rede Relief, which I had cofounded, into the group.
Bossa Invest / Pool Health Tech
Investment committee member · September 2020 to present
I sit on the investment committee of Pool Health Tech, the Bossa Invest vehicle dedicated to early stage healthcare startups.
Bossa Invest appears in PitchBook among the ten most active venture capital firms in the world by number of deals, and is identified by the Sling Hub survey with Itaú BBA as the most active in Latin America. There are more than 1,500 startups invested in and more than 100 exits.
It is the position that keeps me on the other side of the table: instead of building, judging those who build.
Rede Relief
Director · August 2018 to present
I cofounded Rede Relief, a network of transitional and rehabilitation hospitals for high complexity patients: care of an intensity similar to that of an ICU, pediatrics, rehabilitation and palliative care, in units in Jardins, São Paulo.
We began the retrofit of the units in 2016 and opened in 2018.
In 2022 I sold Relief to Grupo SOL and stayed at its head. Today it is part of Grupo Global Care, where I am also Chief Strategy Officer.
IASIS Health S/A
Advisory board member · November 2021 to November 2024
IASIS Health is a Brazilian healthtech with a SaaS platform that connects different entities of the health system and promotes interoperability of clinical data, in compliance with Ordinance 1.434/2020 of the Ministry of Health and integrated with the RNDS, the Brazilian national health data network.
As an adviser, I contributed to product strategy and to the company's positioning in the debate on interoperability and clinical data governance.
Medictalks
Advisory board member · October 2021 to September 2024
Medictalks is a startup dedicated to the advancement of medicine through the promotion of knowledge to health professionals, connecting clinical staff, the pharmaceutical industry and service providers.
As an adviser, I contributed to the company's positioning and to its relationship with clinical staff and industry.
diversidade.io
Advisory board member · July 2021 to March 2024
diversidade.io is an ecosystem of five platforms that turns declared diversity into traceable evidence: curation of diverse suppliers, racial validation supported by artificial intelligence, business rounds with matching, geo referenced impact measurement and event eco efficiency.
As an adviser I followed the period in which the platform mapped 209 thousand Black entrepreneurs in Brazil and generated R$ 8.34 million in business.
It is the same problem that interests me in healthcare, applied to another sector: information scattered across spreadsheets and self declarations that needs to become auditable data.
Bliss White
Chief Strategy Officer · September 2016 to June 2019
I bought Bliss White in 2016, a one stop shop dental service designed to serve high end dental insurers.
It was not a retail clinic: the client was the insurer, and the product was the entire care network, assembled and managed as a service.
In 2019 I sold the company to the British group Bupa, which serves 20.7 million people in its clinics, hospitals and dental centers, and which was already one of the insurers served.
EmpreenderSaúde
Columnist · May 2014 to May 2016
I wrote a monthly column on healthcare for EmpreenderSaúde, a healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship portal that organized Startup Saúde Brasil.
EmpreenderSaúde gave rise to Live Healthcare Media, together with the healthcare division of IT Mídia, today part of Informa Markets, which publishes Saúde Business and organizes the Saúde Business Fórum and HIS.
I wrote for two years, in the same period in which I was President of the Brazil Chapter of the Continua Health Alliance.
Continua Health Alliance
President, Brazil Chapter · May 2013 to May 2016
I was President of the Brazil Chapter of the Continua Health Alliance, today the Personal Connected Health Alliance, an international non profit organization formed by HIMSS and dedicated to the standardization of connected health solutions.
The Continua Design Guidelines are the reference open framework for end to end interoperability between connected health devices and clinical systems, built on standards such as Bluetooth, USB, ISO/IEEE 11073 and HL7 FHIR, and recognized in the ITU-T H.810 standard.
It is the origin of the interoperability thesis I have defended ever since: extending care into the patient's home requires that data cross systems without getting lost.
Unit Care
Cofounder and CEO · July 2011 to March 2019
I cofounded Unit Care in 2011 and led it as CEO for almost eight years.
The company delivered complete health solutions, from planning to execution, specializing in high complexity home care, telehealth, telemedicine, mHealth and critical medical transport by air and by ground.
In 2019 I sold Unit Care to Grupo SOL, of Milan, which operates in home care through Vivisol. Today it is part of the group's South American network, alongside Pronep, Global Care and Relief.
